Bio

WONDERKID is the real deal and Rhys Chapman is the real deal.” i-D Magazine

Rhys first came onto the scene with WONDERKID, the short film campaign challenging homophobia in football. The project first gained widespread attention after launching a crowdfunding campaign with the help and support of Sir Ian McKellen.

WONDERKID premiered at the Raindance Film Festival before receiving its television debut with Sky Sports. After holding over 100 screenings with organisations in football, including one special underground LGBT event in Russia, the film was launched online and has enjoyed over a million views to date. WONDERKID is available to view for free here.

In 2016, Rhys directed the first ever documentary series for The Telegraph on David Birrell, the double amputee army veteran turned manual racing car driver.

Rhys is currently in post-production on short film RYAN CAN’T READ with Oscar-winning production company Slick Films, which he has co-written and directed. He is developing his first feature film, THE FENS, which looks to question why so many young men take their own lives.
